If you want the bird to talk, whistle, or chirp. You should talk to it more often. If you want the cocktail to repeat a word then you repeat the same word it to the bird. The first phases I taught my cocktail was step up. They love to chirp with music playing also. I hope this helps if it did not email me at wwjd678@yahoo.com.

They have different personalities, just like people. Mine just saw me napping and threw a fit, until I woke up. Now he is napping, maybe I should wake him up.

Hi,
You don't say what sex your bird is.
I'm guessing your bird is a hen (female). Hens are generally a lot quieter than the male birds. With the breeding season nearly upon us, if it was a male, he'd be a lot noisier.

If your cockatiel only tweets and never whistles turnes, then thats a FEMALE. Males are the only ones who whistle tunes. And most all females will have grey faces, and stripes on their tail feathers. Males have solid colored tails but very young males will have speckles lines on their soon to turn solid as the bird ages.

Baby cockatiels are quiet. You may have a female cockatiel as they are quiet.
