Why does my cockatiel tweet all the time even though she gets plenty of attention?
Posted under Tweet by admin
She hates mirrors but she's been Tweeting her mating call. I would get her a boyfriend but my mom won't let me. I really need to know why she's doing this.
don't know. do you let her out of her cage? does she have toys in the cage?
mine won't shut up if i'm home and for some reason don't open the cage. i can't always open the cage because mine flies and if i cook, i can't let her fly into my boiling water, for obvious reasons. But once i let her out she is quiet.
she is probably missing something in her life, wether you can provide is another thing. getting a mate is a BAD thing unless you know how to breed them. Do you know how to inject food into a baby bird's mouth such that it goes into the crop and NOT into the lungs killing the bird? No? don't get a mate! also mated birds will bond with each other and never be your pet ever again.
try to figure out WHEN she yells and if anything makes her be quiet. it's like a baby — they cry but they can't tell you what they want.
somtimes birds will just make noise just to sing. male birds do this more often. if she goes "fEE!" all day and runs back and forth in her cage she probably just wants out, and if she IS out of the cage, she probably wants attention (a bird friend) and doesn't know how to get it from YOU yet.
do you pet your bird on the beak and back of the head? birds need that to feel they are really friends. but don't pet a bird on the back, or it will think you are it's mate, and that's not good.
making noise tho is normal — even if she wants attention or somethign she can't get — it is ok to just ingore it as long as there are happiness behaviors such as beak grinding. Again like a baby: sometimes they WILL cry.

she must horny

Because you bought a bird. That's like asking why your dog barks or your best friend speaks to you.

You rdefinition of enough attention and hers may not be the same thing.

Probably from utter boredom and frustration. Bird's are much more intelligent creatures than they usually get credit for. After all, how you feel if you were a creature gifted with flight and you were locked up in a little cage your whole life?

She may be lonely. Do you have a mirror hanging near her so she can see herself? I placed one on my half moon parot's perch and he would entertain himself by looking at himself in the mirror.

Your cockatiel is tweeting for one or both of two reasons … she's a HAPPY bird who likes living with you, or she wants a mate. If you do get her a mate, you'll need to be sure she's a 'girl bird' and that you get a 'male bird' that she likes … so if you buy a mate, get it with a 'return for exchange' in case she doesn't like the mate, because female cockatiels are very PICKY about their mates.

My does it too, he is such a pampered. This kind of bird is very social, she needs attention, company, and you are her only company. A cockateil could be very easily coddled, and then it becomes a coddle monster obsessed with your attention and coddling, for it is it never enough. ^^'
I know from my own experience.

maybe she just likes attention or the sound of her own voice.
