It’s Me Again
Posted under Tweet by admin
If It’s Me Again had a couple more uptempo tracks and fewer scene jackings from Missy Elliott, it would have no trouble matching the greatness of 2002’s Southern Hummingbird. Elliott’s berserk (not Bazerk) squawks vandalize return single “Turn da Lights Off,” a Kwam

Tweet is a great artist. The CD is fantastic. Although it mirrors her debut Southern Hummingbird as far as content and song arrangement, it is definitely a more mature effort. Track #4 is a duet with Rell that is very easy listening, ironically Track #4 on her first CD is her duet with Bilal. It would have been interesting to see her mix up the format a little.
Marketing was the reason why Tweet has never captured the limelight that she deserves or even the recognition of being a soulful new sound in a market that is over saturated with studio singers. Her last singles were upbeat and were not a good reflection of the album. In fact they were the only uptempo songs on the album with the exception of one more.
'Cab Ride/Taxi' is a instant classic, and I will give it to 'Sports, Sex, & Food' for its funny but real lyrics. And on 'I'm Done', the Mary J. Blige/Rose Royce line 'It's a vacany love don't live here anymore is so telling. She decided not to sample the song, just that one line to reiterate that she is done with. I look forward to hearing more Tweet on the radio without her mentor Missy on the hook, the bridge, intro, or remix. Good luck
Pro : Tweet is definitely a soulful sound
Con : Marketing will be the reason she doesnt do well
I didn't think she could match or even do better than her debut cd, but boy was I wrong. I love the WHOLE cd. Her voice is hypnotic.
Pro : Taxi is the best
Con : I wish there were more tracks
Tweet has done it again! This album is definitely listen-able. Some of the tracks left a lot to be desired, but overall, she's a pure and true talent!
Pro : Mellow, sweet, mature … classic Tweet
Con : Several tracks not too impressive …
I just seen Tweet in concert on the 30th and I personally think that she sounds better live then on her CD. I love both of her CD's but this one is better than her first!!! If you ain't got it you HAVE to go get it. Don't be cheap and get a bootleg copy, support her and get it at the store!!!!!
Pro : your grandma could listen to it and love it
Con : not promoted well….probably won't sell like it should
I love Tweet. Southern Hummingbird quickly became the CD that never left my player. I still think the song "Beautiful" is one of the most…well, beautiful songs. I wanted Tweet to blow up huge. She has that much talent. Even with the cell phone tie-in ad she didn't get as big as some of the other manufactured divas that came out at the same time. But I was still a huge fan. So imagine how excited I was to know she was finally dropping her second album. I think the album title tells a lot about this CD. It's definitely Tweet. She's making good music that makes you listen. This is not disposable music that's only good for a season. This is music that sits and stays with you. This is a grown woman singing about grown woman things. My only problem is that Missy is a little too present in some respects. If you've heard Missy's production work, then you can tell the Missy-isms. I think some of the production is a little too predictable. The tinkly piano, the "throwback" sounds of scratching, Missy telling us that this is the new joint, etc. Tweet's voice and lyrics are too thought-provoking to be backed by just the same ole, same ole. But looking at all the junk that the labels release, it's a pleasure to actually be able to listen to a whole album. Do the thing, Ms. Tweet, over and over again.
Pro : No slumping in this sophomore set
Con : A little too much Missy-isms
I love this album. I listened to it at my friends house and it is a good album. I am going to buy it and everyone should buy it.
