@motherboardsorg Do …
@motherboardsorg Do they? I’m confused at this point, because some people say, that they fail rarely, but others – that they fail often. For example Jeff Atwood on codinghorror(dot)com wrote a blog post on that, and he wrote, that most of them didn’t hold up even for a year!
Why test a 1TB 5400 …
Why test a 1TB 5400 RPM drive…. Just slap in a 500GB 7200 at least this really doesn’t help!
@motherboardsorg He …
@motherboardsorg He said AS IF.
@haakonwale I don’t …
@haakonwale I don’t think you can do that. But I am not sure. If you have the cash for a setup like that, just do a RAID 10 setup with four drives for data. You would then have the speed of RAID 0 with redundancy of RAID 1. Then run a single SSD or two in RAID 0. This setup is doable on X58 and P67/z68 mobo’s. I think most AMD boards can as well. At least 800 series can.

@iEatpottato …
@iEatpottato Somewhat, get a WD hard drive, Seagtae has been failing the past years.
Main difference between green and regular drives, are that green drives usually run at 5400 RPM instead of the “norm” 7200 RPM.
@BurnedMurloc If a …
@BurnedMurloc If a HD would fail, would you lose data?

Gigabyte has had this for years, it’s on my P55A-UD4P, this isn’t SRT it’s gigabyte XHD tech.

@cbremer83 I was …
@cbremer83 I was thing more like using a 120 gb ssd drive as he “main” drive and use this technology to boost the storage drive. But I reckon that it doesn’t work that way?
great vid, …
great vid, informative, and easy to understand.
@haakonwale Not …
@haakonwale Not really. It’s only being used as cache file. Not as actual storage. Why would you need anything larger than 64GB? That’s actually probably more than needed. If you want to use it for storage, buy a stand alone large drive. Like a 120GB or 240GB.

@motherboardsorg …
@motherboardsorg Hmmh, a person I know from college [UK], didn’t have an SSD for very long. It was a 2.5.” 180GB Corsair [SF-12xx] (I think it was 180GB) and was in his MacBook (standard) 13″ UniBody. After a while it suddenly began operating slowly. It didn’t exactly fail, but he sent it off to Corsair and is still awaiting a replacement. Not sure what was wrong…
@gumberly He just …
@gumberly He just know what he’s talking about…
can you just …
can you just install windows on say the main drive…then boot and set it to raid with a blank ssd drive and it works automatically ? or do you install windows on the ssd drive first
