Flash player/.swf files not working in Chrome – "Missing Plug-in"?

Posted under Setup Twitter by admin

Google Chrome version): 9.0.587.0 (Official Build 66374) dev
Operating System: Windows XP
Error Message: "Missing Plug-in"
Extensions installed: 4chan 4chrome, AdBlock, Docs PDF/Powerpoint Viewer, Facebook for Google Chrome, Google Voice, IQDB Context, IRC to Mibbit, TinEye Reverse Image Search, Twitter Refresh, TwitterBear, View Background Image
Please describe your question/comment in detail (for example, steps to reproduce the problem): view any .swf file or YouTube video

Whenever I view any .swf file (youtube videos, etc.) I just get a "Missing Plug-In" error instead of the place where the flash video is supposed to be. I’ve tried disabling extensions, trying this in incognito view and I’ve made sure Shockwave Flash is enabled in about:plugins. On http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ it just says "Your Google Chrome browser already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. " and still doesn’t work when I download the setup file from another browser like Firefox and install it again.

Help? Thanks!

You are using a development build of Chrome. Development builds should not be used for normal use as they are usually buggy. Save your favorites, write down your extensions and uninstall Chrome. Go to http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/landing_chrome.html?hl=en to get the current stable version of Chrome. You can not install the stable version of Chrome over the development version, I’ve tried, it won’t let you.
