When you think about it, there are only 2 things that people are looking for in Social Media. It does not matter if you are in real estate, mortgage banking, insurance, or even in marketing of some type. People are always looking for something.
You just need to make sure that you know what those things are.
Most people in the Social Media arena are progressive thinkers and progressive people. Most are ahead of the curve in the web 2.0 world, and most have a focus of being ahead of the pack. The early adopters of Social Media, which I am one, started on the Social media scene 5 years ago. There as not much there, but what was there, was used as best as it could be used.
People then, and people now, are still the same. They always will be. But in the Social media arena, they are looking for 2 things that will help them.
Help them feel better about whom they are. Help them feel better about what they do. And help them feel better about where their life is going. All people are in some way looking for that forward focus. That is why in the social scene, there are 2 things people seem to be seeking more than anything.
Only two.
1) CONNECTION.
Most people in Web 2.0 ville are looking for Connection. They want to connect with people, information, new ideas, new trainings, new events, new groups, new videos, but whatever they are looking for, they want to CONNECT.
Connection is part of the culture we grew up in. People in real estate understand the person want to feel emotionally connected to a house before they purchase it. People want to feel connected to a car before they decide to buy it. And people want to feel connected to something before they start building that bridge of trust with you. You must make an effort to connect in a way that they will respond to in social media.
IN Social Media Marketing, Connection is NOT Correction as so many people think. They are NOT looking to be told that their life is not any good, or is lacking. They are not looking to be told their home is too small for them. They want to Connect to something or someone that will make them feel better about themselves and where their life is headed. You do that in conversations on twitter, facebook, myspace, orkut, moli, LinkedIn, and the like.
They want to feel GOOD about a conversation with you, no matter the social network. They want to feel FOCUSED ON and Tied into a conversation that will help them feel more a part of something that can increase and enlarge their life and future.
CONNECTING with people is simply reaching out and taking their hand over the internet and letting them feel PLUGGED IN to something and someone that can help you connect to new possibilities and to new destinies.
THAT is simple and the truth. Keep the Connection authentic and real, and they will listen to what your conversation is about and start drawing closer to you and your message.
2) Elevation.
People want to feel like they are being lifted higher in their life. They want to feel like their life is going somewhere and means something. We all do. We all are looking for that special feeling that we are special, and as trite as that sounds, it is the truth.
What can you do to create that feeling that they truly believe they are walking on air?
Life them up by noticing something g they said that has helped you.
Compliment them.
Give them a kind remark about their efforts in what they are doing in Social Media.
Ask questions they might know the answer to show you appreciate their knowledge..
Send them new ideas on their passion.
Notice something about their conversation that you can totally appreciate and let them know about it.
Empower them with encouragement.
Thank them for learning something from them.
WHY?
It will make them glad they talked to you in Social Media. And they will remember you the next message, Tweet, or conversation. They will move from the Awareness stage, to the Appreciation stage in Social Media.
As a realtor, you will see that they can start to trust you, and even start referring possible clients to you as people they know are moving out or into – your area.
Remember- it is NOT what you said. But how you made them feel by Connecting with them and Elevating their hope and future in the Social media Marketing arena.
blessings…doug

Most bloggers love to make money blogging about how to make money online. The interest of blogging has come at a stage where people would blog for anything that concerns about money (example, loan, insurance, credit card) than anything else. Today, I am going to turn the table around and share with you how to blog about food and make money at the same time. Sounds impossible? Read on then.
Most food lovers would usually be interested in food recipes and food reviews. Hence if you focus and write about them well, you can expect some good readership and followers for your blog.
Food Reviews Or Food Recipes?
If you have a great recipe to share, why not just write a blog post on it and share with your fellow readers. However, I would not suggest that you copy a recipe from somewhere and post it, or create a recipe out of your own when you have never try the food yourself. You may drive your readers away consequently. Hence, I would not encourage you to write about food recipes unless you are pretty sure of what you desire to share.
Assuming that you are a food lover, food reviews would be an easier choice and more popular approach since most people love to eat and keen to know where they can find the best food in town. Below are 5 useful tips that you may follow to make money blogging about food (particularly reviews and ratings).
1. Take Good Food Display Photos When Served
Food lovers usually love to see nice photos on the food display when served, follows by the food reviews itself. Food photos taken in very bad environment (eg. poor lighting) would require some Photo-shop skills to “touch up” the photo so that it looks nice and appealing to your readers. With these skills, you will be able to display “mouth-watering” photos to accompany your reviews. Great isn’t it?
2. Add Your Profile If You Are A Popular Food Reviewer
If you are a well-known and popular food reviewer, why not add your profile to the homepage of your blog and give yourself an introduction? This would add credential to your blog and your reviews would naturally attract tons of readers due to your influence and popularity.
3. Provide Honest Food Ratings And Reviews
Apart from appealing photos, food lovers love to see ratings and reviews too. Give yourself a range eg. out of 5 stars on how you would rate the food that you have tried. Write your most honest review in short paragraphs. Do not always give nice reviews, remember to mention the bad points too. However, you should always support your criticism with facts.
Tip: Remember! Your first food review is crucial to the success of your food review blog. Be more descriptive and always share your taste well.
4. Keep Your Readers Coming Back. Gather Your Supporters!
Your reader today might be gone for tomorrow. So how to keep them coming back? Well, apart from providing regular food reviews, provide means for them to return too. First, setup an RSS Feed for them to subscribe to your blog just like mine “Subscribe To My RSS”. Whenever you post a new review, they will be notified and read in their own RSS reader. Another way is to create a Twitter account like what I did so that they can be your “follower” and get updates whenever you are reviewing food again.
5. Monetize Your Blog With Adsense
Fastest and easiest way to monetize your blog is to add in Google Adsense ads. Adsense is the best pay-per-click advertising program so far as it rewards well and display ads that are most relevant to your blog content (food reviews). Competitive keywords like “food reviews” or “Spanish Food” will drive tons of visitors to your blog if you work on your SEO well.

I have been trying to Tweet someone on twitter, but they never reply. I think I might be doing it wrong somehow. Can someone please tell me how to tweet? Thanks.
If you are mutual followers, you can send them a direct message. Otherwise you need to send them an (@-reply), as other people are saying, you need to write @ and their username at the beginning of the tweet. If you have a private twitter account they can’t see it unless they’re following you… and if they’re not following you it’s always less likely that they’ll see an @-reply for a while because they have to consciously check their @-replies, unless they have an outside program that has them show up in the same place as their feed.

Because we’re Jersey Shore fans, too. We follow them all on twitter. Proof: The Situation Tweets about being a reality TV king approximately 70% of the time. (The rest of the time, he throws in references to GTL.) See? Rabid. Fans. This Jersey-Shore-tastic funny t-shirt design is printed on a cozy American Apparel fine jersey (HA!) shirt, which means it’s made AND produced right here in the good, old US of A. Please see our sizing chart if you have questions regarding the fit of our tees. And pop round to see our Dunder Mifflin t-shirt if you’re so inclined (and like boobs). You’re welcome.

If you have teenagers, chances are they’re driving you crazy. But why should they have all the fun? Here are some easy ways to return the favor.

Ah, the teen years. Is there anything more frustrating, more bizarre, more annoying than watching your child navigate these years? Yes, yes – I know it’s all worth it in the end, but in the meantime, why not give back a little of what you’ve been getting? Here are some helpful hints on how to annoy your teenager just as much as he or she is annoying you.

Talk in Text Speak
The beauty of this is that it’s actually much shorter to say, “IDK” rather than “I don’t know,” and the added bonus is that your teen will beg to you stop talking like that. In fact, make up some of your own text speak, like maybe “WDYWFD” instead of “What do you want for dinner?” Trust me, you’ll LOL (laugh out loud) at your teen’s annoyed reaction.

Friend them on Facebook
Not only does this allow you to keep cyber tabs on them, but you can also post embarrassing things on their wall. Just imagine their annoyance when their page is littered with messages such as, “I love you muffin!” or “Did you remember to brush your teeth today?” And as a bonus, you can even post some photos from their early childhood.

Twitter
Post tweets – a lot. Not just when you have something really interesting to post, but basically all the time. Going into the living room? Tweet about it. Folding laundry? There’s another tweet. And you should really ramp it up when they’re trying to talk to you.

Master Rock Band
This one might take some secret practice, but next time your teenager has some friends over and they embark on a marathon session of Rock Band, insist on being in the band. They’ll probably indulge you, just so they can laugh…but then proceed to blow them all away with your awesomeness. Your kid will hate it.

Sing their Favorite Songs
…but butcher the words. And try to do all those really cool hand motions. And maybe put on your hat backward. But whatever personal flair you add to the song, remember one thing: sing it as loudly and as badly as you can.

Get Caught Up in Your Electronics…or Whatever
You know how when you ask your teen to do something, the reply is always something like, “After I finish this game/download/text/session of staring at the television”? Give it right back. Next time they need you to cook supper, drive them somewhere or fork over some money, say “Just a sec. I’ll be done Tweeting/updating my Facebook/downloading in a minute.” But then make sure it’s more like ½ hour.

Dress for the Drive
Does your calendar seem to get filled up with a lot of appointments to play taxi? Even if the destination is just a block away? Â Â Â Â Next time, drive them around while wearing your robe, bunny slippers and shower cap. Sure, it might be embarrassing for you, but really – isn’t their embarrassment worth it? And who knows – maybe they’ll actually start walking a few places.

Act Like a Parent
Is there anything worse in a teenager’s mind than to have their parents show up and act like – gasp – parents? I know, I know – it’ the worst. But do it. You’ll be glad you did.

I have been on twitter for a year and have posted over 1500 tweets. I would love to go back to my first ever tweet and read them all in chronological order, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do this apart from pressing "more" over and over until eventually getting back to the beginning, and usually my computer crashes long before that. As it’s a year’s worth of tweets that would take far too long.
You can only do it by clicking more.
And you can only go back 3000 Tweets.
